Sarah Silverman didn’t hold back at the DNC when she paired up with Senator Al Franken to talk up Hillary Clinton, and introduce Paul Simon. A former Bernie supporter, even she had it with the ‘ridiculous’ Bernie bros in the audience, and totally called them out!
Sarah Silverman brought a much-needed dose of laughter to the Democratic National Convention on Night One, July 25. But there was definitely a contingent at the convention who weren’t amused: Bernie Sanders‘ supporters. Sarah has been a proud Bernie supporter since day one, but switched her allegiance to Hillary Clinton when Bernie did!
Despite her well spoken speech explaining why she did so, Bernie bros in the crowd refused to stop booing her and screaming “Bernie.” It got to the point where she called them out: “To the ‘Bernie or Bust’ people, you’re being ridiculous.” She’s talking about the people who refuse to vote for Hillary because Bernie didn’t get the nomination. They’d rather vote for nobody — or Donald Trump — instead!
“Hillary is our Democratic nominee, and I will proudly vote for her,” Sarah said during her moving speech. “It’s so inspiring. Just a few years ago, she was a secretary, and now she’s going to be president! She’s like the only person to be overqualified for the job.”
“I will vote for Hillary with gusto, as I continue to be inspired by the action set forth by Bernie Sanders and his message,” she said. That was beautifully put. Bernie put his weight behind Hillary, and she made the decision that she would follow his lead. She’s a card-carrying Democrat, so she’s going to vote for the nominee, and make sure Trump doesn’t get to the White House!
Her spat with the Bernie bros took some time away from her original point, which was to introduce Paul Simon, who was performing “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, but she made sure her short appearance was memorable!
