“People think because I got released from the hospital and I’m in rehab right now that I’m OK,” one of the survivors says in the gripping clip. “I’m not OK. I’m still connected to a machine because of my back. I have a hole in my back. My arm is still shattered. It’s healing but I don’t have movement in my two fingers.”
The moving preview shows the victim getting his wounds treated at his home. In addition to the nasty wound in his back, he has injuries all up and down his arm that are gruesome to look at it. The pain he is feeling seems unbearable. It’s just so terrible that he had to experience something so awful.
“I’m not OK and not only physical,” he continues in the clip. “I can’t even start with mentally. I’m not nearly OK.”
The True Life special will chronicle the lives of four survivors of the June 12 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, which left 49 people dead and 53 wounded. The attack is the deadliest mass shooting by a single shooter in U.S. history. Omar Mateen was the sole shooter and pledged his loyalty to terrorists during a 911 call. He was killed by police officers during the attack.
The special True Life episode will follow the four survivors as they come to grips with what happened at the nightclub and figure out how to move forward. True Life: We Are Orlando will air Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
