This is just so sad. Two college football players named Sam Foltz and Mike Sadler were killed in a horrific car crash on July 23, and their teammates are in agony over their tragic deaths. See the heartbreaking messages right here.
As University of Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler were on their way back from a kicking camp in Wisconsin on July 23, they got into a horrific accident that ended up taking both of their lives. At just 22 and 24, respectively, Sam and Mike’s teammates and family members were left devastated and took to social media to remember the boys.
Both Sam and Mike’s coaches took to Twitter to remember their beloved team members, also sharing sweet messages in respective statements. “Sam was universally loved and respected by everyone he touched and on whom he had a positive influence each and every day,” Nebraska coach Mike Riley wrote. Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio wrote a similar message about Mike (Sadler). “He was one of those people that brightened your day. I always say to try and be a light, and he truly was a light in this world.”

I don't think I'm far off in saying that Sam Foltz is the Brook Berringer of our time. What an unbelievable guy. Sad day for Husker Nation.

Mike Sadler was a joy to cover. He had quick wit, great humor and was as good as he was entertaining to those around him. Hard news to grasp

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement regarding the accident, which occurred at 11:43 p.m. CT, according to ESPN. It was a single-car crash, as Mike was driving and lost control of the vehicle on wet pavement, striking a tree and tragically leaving both Sam and Mike dead. Whether Mike was speeding at the time of the crash is still being investigated.
To make the whole situation even more heartbreaking, both of Mike and Sam’s coaches said that they were incredible men on and off the field. Sam was a four-time member of Nebraska’s scholar-athlete honor roll, receiving the school’s Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award in 2016. Mike was the first student in Michigan State’s history to earn Academic All-America honors four times and received first-team All-America honors in 2013. Our hearts go out to the boys’ families, teammates, and friends.
HollywoodLifers, send your thoughts to Sam and Mike’s loved ones as they grieve during this difficult time.
