Everyone’s been looking forward to Gucci Mane’s post-prison album, and it has finally arrived. Everybody Looking was recorded in the six days after his release from prison and features songs he wrote in prison and after he was released. He’s set to perform at a homecoming concert in Atlanta only hours after dropping his album. The album includes hot tracks with Drake, Kanye West and Young Thug. Listen below!
Gucci was released from prison in May 2016 after nearly 3 years. He was in prison on a weapons charge stemming from a 2013 arrest. He dropped a new song, “First Day Out Tha Feds” only one day after leaving prison.
The rapper didn’t waste any time getting back to business after his prison release. He was also featured on Kanye’s “Cruel Winter” track, bragging about bribing his girlfriend to stay faithful to him while he was in prison.
Gucci, who is still on house arrest, has vowed to be a better person after his prison stint. He revealed in an interview with The New York Times that prison actually helped him get sober. “In hindsight I see it for what it was: I was a drug addict… I was naive to the fact that I was numb,” he said.
But beating his addiction wasn’t easy. “It feel like death,” he said about being in withdrawal. Your body just craving lean bad. Stomach tore up, can’t think straight. Just mad at the world. Temper so short, so violent, so aggressive. So just rude and toxic.”
