Once Roger Ailes resigned from Fox News, we couldn’t help but wonder what the talented and courageous Gretchen Carlson had planned for herself. In addition to her ongoing lawsuit against the ousted CEO, the anchor revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that she’s taking time to support a cause that’s near and dear to her heart.
Never too busy to help young women in their careers and personal development, Gretchen Carlson, 50, opened up to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about her ongoing involvement with a unique charity. “I am excited to be the MC at the 13th annual ‘Miss You Can Do It Pageant’ taking place July 30 in Peoria, Illinois. The event showcases and honors young women with disabilities from around the country who are helping to redefine our standards of beauty, feminism and even glamour.”
The former 1989 Miss America went on to say, “The non-profit pageant was created by a remarkable woman named Abbey Curran, who was named Miss Iowa in 2008 and competed for the Miss USA Pageant despite being born with cerebral palsy. The pageant she created is a true celebration of female beauty and self-worth that begins from within and I could not be more honored to be serving as this year’s master of ceremonies.” How amazing!
The mother of two young children is extremely grateful for the ongoing show of support that has poured in through social media since her harassment lawsuit against Roger Ailes was filed on July 6. Just two weeks later, Gretchen’s former boss stepped down, after multiple women reportedly accused Ailes of sexual harassment. We couldn’t be happier for Gretchen who took to Twitter on July 21, writing, “Thank you to everyone who supported me.”
So now that Ailes is out, will Gretchen return to Fox News? Not so fast, says her spokesperson Alan Ripp, “Gretchen hopes to continue her highly successful broadcasting and journalism career, and should have ample opportunity to do that elsewhere.” No doubt about that!
HollywoodLifers, do YOU think Gretchen will go to a competing network?
