Ivanka Trump introduced her father, Donald Trump, before his acceptance speech at the RNC on July 21. Per usual, she gave a beautiful, powerful speech, but it included one shocking admission. Ivanka doesn’t consider herself a Republican! What?
Well, this was unexpected! Ivanka Trump, 34, admitted as she proudly praised her father, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, 70, that she doesn’t consider herself a member of either political party. Yes, onstage at the Republican National Convention, Ivanka said that she wasn’t Republican, while introducing her dad, who was about to become the GOP nominee! Wow!
So Ivanka didn’t exactly storm onstage wearing an “I’m With Her” t-shirt, but after a night filled with evangelical pastors and staunch conservatives, it was a line that definitely got a double take! “I, like many millennials, don’t consider myself a Republican or a Democrat,” Ivanka told the sea of delegates in Cleveland. “I vote on my principles, and sometimes it’s hard to choose [a candidate]. But not now!”
That got a ton of cheers from the audience! Ivanka explained that since her dad is the nominee for president, she’s GOP all day, every day. “My father is a fighter,” Ivanka explained. “And now I am seeing him fight for our country…When my father says ‘Make America Great Again’, he will deliver. He’s a relentless believer in America and all of her potential.”
Ivanka’s been her father’s biggest supporter since day one — and we mean before this presidential campaign even began. Ivanka is the Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at the Trump Organization, the brains behind her father’s insanely powerful business. She’s been at the forefront of his presidential campaign, and look where it got him!
Ivanka’s confession that she’s not 100% Republican has actually come up before, though not on such a grand scale. Back in April, Ivanka and her brother, Eric Trump, were unable to vote for their father in the New York presidential primaries. They hadn’t registered as Republicans in time!
