The world was absolutely heartbroken on July 19 when the news broke that Garry Marshall had passed away at 81. However, he will always be remembered for his iconic films and TV shows — and to celebrate his life, we’ve put together some of the best scenes that are definitely worth rewatching.
Pretty Woman (1990)
Not only did Julia Roberts‘ laugh make its debut on the big screen, she also told Richard Gere‘s Edward that she had a great night at the opera — you know, just in case she forgot to tell him later.
The Princess Diaries (2001)
Let’s be honest — Anne Hathaway couldn’t look bad if she tried, but the makeover of Mia in this flick was a moment that we will always remember. Really, it was a touch of makeup, a hair straightener and contacts, but talk about a transformation.
Happy Days (1977)
When Fonzie literally jumped the shark, it was a turning point for the show — but it actually coined the phrase and changed everything. The show in general was a little too amazing to choose just one scene.
This clip doesn’t need much introduction. It’s Bette Midler singing “Wind Beneath My Wings.” What else do we need to say?
Runaway Bride (1999)
This was the reunion that fans were waiting for — and it was worth the wait. During the rehearsal at the wedding, Richard and Julia’s characters started making out in front of the man she was marrying. Duh.
Valentine’s Day (2010)
If you didn’t cry during the scene where Héctor Elizondo‘s Edgar forgives Shirley McLaine‘s Estelle after she runs through the movie at the cemetery, you are not a human.
New Year’s Eve (2011)
While this one had a few very incredible scenes — I mean, that cast! — one of the best was between Lea Michele and Ashton Kutcher in the elevator!
And just for fun, we wanted to throw in our favorite acting credit, where he played “Master” in Hocus Pocus — and was married to his sister, Penny Marshall.
