Megyn Kelly has made a shocking claim in the wake of Gretchen Carlson’s lawsuit: Fox News CEO Roger Ailes sexually harassed Megyn, too, when she was starting out at Fox, according to a July 19 report. Get all of the details here.
Megyn Kelly, 45, has told investigators at the law firm Paul, Weiss, that Roger Ailes, 76, made sexual advances toward her about a decade ago, sources tell New York magazine. The firm is currently investigating Ailes following Gretchen Carlson‘s sexual harassment lawsuit against him, and Kelly’s comments — she “has described her harassment by Ailes in detail”, according to the sources — are certainly going to help along the case.
As Fox News’ most prominent host, Megyn Kelly’s confession has most definitely led to the move to oust Ailes (21st Century Fox’s leaders Rupert, James and Lachlan Murdoch decided Ailes has got to go), which must happen by Aug. 1 — Ailes has been given an ultimatum in which he must either resign or be fired, the mag has reported.
New York also says that since Kelly is currently negotiating her contract and Fox mainstay Bill O’Reilly has said he’s thinking about retiring, the network “can’t afford to lose her”.
Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson made her bombshell claims against Ailes earlier this month. She was let go from the network in June 2016, after she refused Ailes when he allegedly tried to engage her in a sexual relationship.
Since then, many prominent Fox News women have publicly defended Ailes. Kelly, however, was suspiciously silent, and her colleagues have been angry at Kelly for not speaking up in Ailes’ defense. “Megyn is being selfish,” a Fox News insider told The Daily Beast. “It’s pretty shocking actually.” Well, this new report explains why she didn’t jump at the chance to support her harasser.
