Nick Cannon is done joking around. The ‘Wild ‘N Out’ star led a Blacks Lives Matter protest outside the Republican National Convention. While blasting the GOP for lack of ‘representation,’ Nick also warned Democrats to not take his people’s votes for ‘granted!’
“We want to be respected. We want to feel safe. We want the American Dream,” said Nick Cannon, 35, as he stood outside the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on July 18. As the Republican National Convention kicked off it’s four-day celebration of all things Donald Trump, 70, Nick and other BLM protesters refused to be silent, especially when so many black men and women are being killed by police.
“You are messing with our peace of mind,” Mariah Carey’s, 46, ex-husband said, according to The Daily Mail, with the deadly shootings of Philando Castile, 32, and Alton Sterling, 37, still fresh in his mind. “We can’t operate as Americans when we can’t walk outside and feel safe.”
Nick said that his “community brought me down here today and the lack of representation for my community brought me down here today.” While Nick was protesting the RNC’s lack of support for the Black Lives Matter movement, he also took issue with Democrats. “Both aren’t speaking about our issues and they have been taking our votes for granted for far too long.”
Cleveland better get used to seeing Nick around, as he and #BLM vowed to protest “the entire convention” until their voices are heard. They’re not the only group causing a stir at the RNC. During the first night, a member Code Pink interrupted GOP Senator Jeff Sessions, 69, to try and hold up an anti-war banner. She was removed by convention security, but a second protester held another banner that read “Refugees welcome.”
With so many pro-Trump supporters and Anti-Republican protesters in one spot, the Cleveland Police have prepared for the worst! Officers have been warned that protests could get out of hand, a law enforcement source EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com, noting that the authorities will do their best to prevent any violence from breaking out. So far, all the protests at the RNC have been peaceful. Let’s hope they stay that way!
What do you think about Nick Cannon joining Black Lives Matter at the RNC, HollywoodLifers? Do you agree with him?
