The similarities between Melania Trump’s RNC speech on July 18 and Michelle Obamas’ DNC speech from 2009 are shocking — and the Internet is blowing up over it. Voters are totally baffled by the apparent plagiarism, and they’re going after Melania for it!
A mash-up video of both Melania Trump, 46, and Michelle Obama’s speeches points out the obvious similarities, and people cannot stop talking about it on Twitter. Even Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie weighed in on the whole thing during a Today show interview with Chris Christie on July 19, and they didn’t hide the fact that they were totally astounded by it all.
While some voters slammed Melania for copying the First Lady, others made hilarious jokes, and the hashtag #FamousMelaniaTrumpQuotes began trending, with Twitter users sharing their favorite famous quotes and lyrics that Melania might call her own next. LOL!

So Melania Trump just gonna copy Michelle's speech verbatim and think nobody would notice? 🤔

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign has denied any form of plagiarism. “To think that she would do something like that knowing how scrutinized her speech was going to be last night is really just absurd,” the campaign chairman said in a statement.
However, there is definitely something fishy going on regarding all this, because originally, Donald Trump’s wife claimed to have written the address herself…which was later refuted by a campaign spokesperson.
“In writing her beautiful speech, Melania’s team of writers took notes on her life’s inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking,” the team’s statement said. “Melania’s immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it a success.”
Donald did not directly comment on the plagiarism, but did take to Twitter to gush over his wife after the convention. “It was truly an honor to introduce my wife, Melania,” he wrote. “Her speech and demeanor were absolutely incredible. Very proud!” We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on what he says when he takes the stage later this week!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Melania plagiarized in her speech? Was it wrong?
