Another day, another project for Jennifer Lopez! With ‘Idol’ officially over, she has five minutes open of free time — and she’s filled it with a brand new show. Watch her big announcement.
Jennifer Lopez has teamed up with NBC for a new 10-episode competition show, called World of Dance. The Shades of Blue star revealed in a video on Twitter on July 19 that casting for the show is happening now and open to all sorts of dancers — and the winner of the show will receive a $1 million prize.
“This will be a fierce talent-heavy dance competition that embraces the raw emotion and excitement that dance represents,” JLo said in a statement. “I am excited to work with World of Dance, an organization that has had an immeasurable impact on the dance community, to give all dancers an enormous platform where their dreams can be realized.”
NBC released the following statement about the format of the show:
Handpicked from qualifying events around the nation and thousands of online submissions, competitors are divided into three divisions: Junior (any size act under 16 years old), Upper (groups of 1-4, over 16 years) and Team (groups of 5+, over 16 years). After an initial audition round, divisions face off in duels, until only one of each is left standing. A panel of experts score the acts using a precise point system developed by World of Dance, using the following criteria: Routine, Execution, Presentation, and Crowd Appeal. The epic finale sees the winners from each division duke it out for $1 million and the title ‘Best in the World.’
Jen, 46, also just extended her Las Vegas residency “due to overwhelming demand,” Planet Hollywood revealed. So, 21 new dates had been added. Of course, when she’s not in Vegas, she’s in NYC filming Shades of Blue and spending time with her eight-year-old twins!
How she has time we do not know, but we’re thrilled! HollywoodLifers, will you be watching?
