Melania Trump quoted a speech Michelle Obama gave in 2008 word-for-word at the 2016 Republican National Convention on July 18, and though there’s literally video proof of Melania saying the identical lines, Donald’s campaign claims the speech wasn’t a copy and is even blaming Hillary Clinton and the Democrats for the allegations!
This is so insane. Donald Trump‘s campaign chairman Paul Manafort has not only dismissed allegations that Melania Trump plagiarized Michelle Obama, but said on July 19 that Hillary Clinton and her campaign started the accusations! “This is once again an example of when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton, how she seeks out to demean her and take her down. It’s not going to work,” Manafort said. Unbelievable.
“There’s a political tint to this whole issue,” he continued. “It’s just another example, as far as we’re concerned, that when Hillary Clinton is threatened by a female, the first thing she does is try to destroy the person.” How blasphemous is it that Manafort is suggesting the controversy surrounding Melania’s speech was in some way created by Hillary and her campaign?! “There’s no cribbing of Michelle Obama’s speech. These are common words and values that she cares about her family, things like that,” Manafort added. “I mean, she was speaking in front of 35 million people last night. She knew that. To think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama’s words is crazy.” Uh, you might be the crazy one here, dude.
Though Trump’s campaign is writing off the criticism, the proof is in the pudding. Melania’s 10-minute speech contained some exact lines from an address that Michelle Obama gave in Denver, CO in 2008, before Obama was elected president.
