Speech! Speech! Speech! After officially becoming the GOP nominee for president on July 19, Donald Trump proudly addressed his adoring crowd remotely from the Trump Tower in NYC.
That was unexpected! Never to be the typical candidate, Donald Trump, 70, beamed himself in on a jumbotron at the Republican National Convention to give a short address about his historic win. It’s not normal for the presidential nominee to appear at the RNC before the last day, when the nominee is officially, 100% sworn in, but Trump couldn’t stay away after Night 2’s events!
“Together we’ve achieved historic results,” Trump said as he spoke to the crowd, looming over them as a massive, talking head. It was quite impressive. “But we have to go all the way. I’m so proud to be your nominee. I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you on Thursday (July 21)…It’s an honor to run on the ticket with Governor Mike Pence.”
It’s almost like the GOP delegates got a visit from the Wizard of Oz, or the emperor who was trying to train Kylo Ren in Force Awakens. Seriously, the jumbotron move is far more enticing than your normal podium and shaky microphone!
So it’s official; Trump has been chosen by the delegates of the great 50 states and surrounding territories to become the Republican party nominee for President of the United States. Now, Trump has given quite a few, loud, speeches during his presidential campaign, but this one was special. This was the first time he spoke to supporters after becoming their nominee!
There was no question that Trump would become the nominee at the Republican National Convention, but having it officially laid out by the delegates of each and every state and territory is pretty sweet. We can now finally call Trump the GOP nominee, instead of the “presumptive nominee”! What will Trump’s official speech on the last night of the RNC bring?
