Terrible! A man with an ax attacked a train full of people in Wurzburg, Germany on July 18. Local outlets report that as many as 2o people were injured before authorities shot down the attacker. We have the details, right here.
We can’t believe there’s been yet another tragedy out of Europe. BBC reports that a man began attacking people on a commuter train in Wurtzburg, Germany with both an ax and a knife on July 18, leaving as many as 20 injured. A police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect has been killed. He was shot by police while trying to flee the scene.
There was likely only one attacker, says Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. He revealed that the criminal is believed to be a 17-year-old Afghan refugee, who came to Germany as an unaccompanied minor.
Luckily, there doesn’t appear to be any deaths as a result of the rampage. BBC saya that 20 people have been treated by medics, and of those three were seriously injured, while one with minor injuries. 14 more were simply in shock from the horrifying ordeal, but thankfully unharmed. People can not access the train line between Ochsenfurt and Würzburg right now, as police are investigating what exactly happened on the commuter rail.
Much like France, Germany has been through an incredibly high amount of terror attacks over the past year. In Nov. 2015, a soccer game between Germany and Holland at Hanover Stadium was forced to be cancelled when a “concrete” threat was called in. Just two months before the July 18 attack, another man terrorized a train by stabbing people while screaming “Allahu Akbar.” We pray this senseless violence comes to an end soon!
