Welcome to the club! Michael Phelps made a great discovery while filming a Facebook Live video of his fellow Olympians in training. His swimming rival, Ryan Lochte is swept up in the craze of Pokemon GO! Who knew? Watch the funny clip here.
We may be weeks away from the opening ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, but that hasn’t stopped Ryan, 31, from getting in on the worldwide trend, Pokemon GO. His teammate Michael, also 31, filmed a behind-the-scenes clip at their training camp in San Antonio on July 15. When Michael went to greet Ryan, he asked fans’ questions to the “stud,” and the popular game was brought up. “I don’t play Pokémon. Do you play Pokemon?” Michael asked. Ryan responded: “I got suckered in to playing Pokemon. But I’m only on level two. Gotta catch up!”
Why do we have the hunch that Ryan chose Squirtle as his starter Pokemon? He’s merely a beginner at the game, as the players need to get to level 5 before they can start battling! However, it’s good to see he’s keeping his eye on the prize.
The hunky stars have been preparing for the Olympics, which begin Aug. 6 and luckily for us, they took a break from the pool to socialize with their social media followers. Ryan later took to Instagram with a shirtless selfie, showcasing his seriously enviable six-pack abs alongside the caption: “Just finishing up our morning practice.”
The upcoming event will be Michael’s FIFTH time competing for the US swim team and between him and Ryan, the duo have an incredible 33 Olympic medals. Ryan’s obviously no slouch in the athletic department either, as the Ralph Lauren sponsored heartthrob has also competed four times. He also just graced the cover of Outside Magazine, wearing only a pair of swim trunks with the headline reading “Captain America.” We see that!
HollywoodLifers, can you believe Ryan plays Pokemon GO in between training for the Olympics? Sound off below!
