Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is majorly regretting what she said about Donald Trump! One week after totally slamming the GOP candidate, Justice Ginsburg admitted that her comments about Trump were ‘ill-advised.’ Read her statement right here!
Apparently no one can get away with dissing Donald Trump, not even a Supreme Court Justice! After Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 83, made some pretty ruthless comments about Donald, 70, she was immediately under fire for dissing the presidential candidate — and now she is retracting what she said. She even issued an apology for her not-so-nice words!
“On reflection, my recent remarks in response to press inquiries were ill-advised and I regret making them,” reads Ginsburg’s statement. “Judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect.”
In case you missed Justice Ginsburg’s comments about Donald, she first told the Associated Press that she couldn’t even “think about” the idea of Trump being president and then told the New York Times that a Trump presidency was something that would’ve made her late husband want to move to New Zealand. But she didn’t stop there — Justice Ginsburg even called Donald a “faker” who makes things up as he goes! Yikes!
While some of Justice Ginsburg’s fans backed her up and claimed she can basically say whatever she wants, others were appalled by her diss. Plus, it was tough for Justice Ginsburg to argue that what she said went against the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges, which prohibits judges from taking a stance on a candidate for office, as well as basic conventions that forbids judges from politicking during election season.
As if backlash from her fellow justices and the media wasn’t enough for Justice Ginsburg to take, of course Donald didn’t stay quiet about her comments either. He took to Twitter to declare that Justice Ginsburg should step down because “her mind is shot.” Wonder what he’ll have to say now that she’s apologized!
