As excited as we are for this year’s Emmy nominations (yay, David Schwimmer!), there’s always those who get skipped over somehow — and this year, there’s quite a few.
Every year, the Emmy nominations shock us; our favorite shows get picked, while our other favorites get left in the dust. This year, the list of snubs was a big one. From huge shows like Outlander and Orange is the New Black getting passed over, to past winners who usually dominate, here’s our list of the biggest snubs this year. Plus, check out the first-time nominees!
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan gave incredible and heartbreaking performances as Claire and Jamie in Outlander season two. Caitriona’s performance when Claire lost her baby was simply devastating and completely Emmy worthy.
While Constance Zimmer definitely earned her nom this year, it’s a little shocking that the Lifetime Series that has topped every must-watch list was missing this year. If you’ve seen season one, you get it.
Orange is the New Black
Yes, you read that right. Netflix’s giant series, one of the most buzzed about shows (not) on television right now didn’t get any love. One of the stars Emma Myles even took to Instagram after the announcement to give the academy the finger. Yikes!
Lady Gaga in American Horror Story: Hotel
Alright so Gaga’s song “Till It Happens To You” is nominated for “Original Music,” but somehow her terrifying role as The Countess was skipped over. I mean, that orgy scene alone won me over!
Eva Green in Penny Dreadful
How this happened is just beyond me. The star of the show — which just abruptly ended for good this season — was left out of nominations after what I would call one of the most powerful roles on TV.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert … and Trevor Noah‘s The Daily Show
With a bunch of new hosts joining late night, the ex Colbert Report host didn’t land a spot in the Best Variety Talk Series list. The new Daily Show was skipped over as well.
Julianna Margulies in The Good Wife
It was the final hurrah and the series went out on top — but Julianna’s name was shockingly missed from the Drama Actress category. The two-time Emmy winner was left off while Keri Russell landed her first nod and another went to Tatiana Maslany.
We all know the show hasn’t been as good in the past few years, but the nine-time Outstanding Reality Competition Series nominee was replaced this year in Emmy noms — American Ninja Warrior landed its first nod.
Christian Slater in Mr. Robot
I’m beyond thrilled to see Rami Malek‘s name top the list of nominees and he definitely deserves it — but just as he does, the robot himself does as well. He’s Christian Slater, and he won the Golden Globe.
The Walking Dead
It’s been six seasons and the drama has never even been nominated — sure, it’s a snub that most were expecting but with how great season six was (it’s the top rated series on television), it seems a little off that it still has yet to earn the recognition. Plus, even if the show doesn’t land a nom, surely Melissa McBride or Andrew Lincoln should have.
HollywoodLifers, who was the biggest snub in your mind?
