The chairman has spoken! Vince McMahon returned to WWE ‘Raw’ on July 11 to decide who’ll be the new commissioners of ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown,’ ending the bickering between his kids — Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon. Click to watch!
If there’s any lesson Vince McMahon, 70, taught his kids, it’s “don’t cross the boss.” After weeks of watching his kids, Stephanie McMahon, 46, and Shane McMahon, 39, argue over who should run Raw and SmackDown, the WWE chairman had enough and stepped in!
Instead of leaving the choice to his kids, Vince made the decision himself on the July 11 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. After carefully considering his options, Shane was given SmackDown while Stephanie would remain in charge of Raw. While Vince ended that argument, he let his children know that the battle had just begun.
“I want the two of you to compete,” he said. “I want you to compete in terms of television ratings, in terms of social media metrics, in the terms of live attendance records, in terms of merchandise – I don’t care! I just want you to compete. One of you might inherit the keys to the kingdom.” Wow. Considering the WWE is worth up to $3.4 billion dollars, according to The Wrap, inheriting the WWE would be one heck of a payday. “Let the games begin!” he shouted.
However, while Stephanie and Shane now are in charge of the two major WWE brands, Vince told them that they needed to assign a General Manager of their respective shows. The two must name their choices on the July 18 episode of Raw, one night ahead of when SmackDown goes live on Tuesday (and the night of the WWE Draft, according to WWE.com)
Well, Steph and Shane have plenty of options for GMs. Teddy Long, 68, made his return to the WWE to ask if he could run SmackDown, and he’s not the only one! Former GMs Vicki Guerrero, 48, John Laurinaitis, 53, and others are ready to take on the role. The WWE Universe will have to tune into Raw on July 18 to see who Shane and Steph pick.
What do you think about Steph getting Raw and Shane getting SmackDown, HollywoodLifers? Which show are you going to watch more? Or will you watch both?
