Beyonce has paid tribute to the victims shot in the brutal attack of police officers in Dallas. In a touching video message, Bey shares her thoughts about the horrific act calling them ‘senseless.’ Click here for the full details.
Beyonce, 34, took to social media to release her feelings on the “senseless” Dallas attack that left five police officers dead and many more injured. Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, was the man who went on a shooting rampage in what is now the deadliest attack on police since 9/11.
Bey posted a black and white video with the names of the victims spread across a waving flag. Next to her tribute to the victims was a heartfelt caption, honoring those who’s lives were taken too soon, as well as her thoughts on protests, change and peace. Praying for a full recovery to those who survived, but were injured, she informed her 77 million followers that, “No violence will create peace.”
The rest of her caption was a call to viewers that said, “Every human life is valuable. We must be the solution. Every human being has the right to gather in peaceful protest without suffering more unnecessary violence. To effect change we must show love in the face of hate and peace in the face of violence.”
Beyonce’s post comes just a few days after she held a moment of silence for the police shooting victims during her July 7 concert in Glasgow, Scotland.
This isn’t the first time the “Formation” singer has been vocal about her feelings on world issues. The singer was furious over the tragic deaths of Alton Sterling, 37, and Philando Castile, 32, by the hands of two police officers and posted a letter to her website about urging her fans to take “action” and “contact their local politicians.” Beyonce’s post also provided links to a general directory of the members of Congress, the Louisiana legislature and the Minnesota representatives.
The sniper, Micah, was a Texan and reported veteran, with no ties to terrorism, but he did intentionally target police officers and claimed he acted alone. His rampage was reportedly in response to the killings of Alton and Philando, two black men shot to death by police officers. “He was upset about Black Lives Matter,” Dallas police chief David Brown said during a July 8 news conference. “He [said he] wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.” Micah was later killed by a bomb police detonated where he was.
