After the horrific shooting in Dallas on July 7, investigators searched the home of Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, who was the man responsible for killing five police officers, and what they found will disturb you. Click here for more details.
During a search of Micah’s home in Mesquite, Texas, investigators found bomb-making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition and a personal journal filled with combat tactics, Dallas police said in a statement. We cannot believe that terrifying news. It is shocking to think he had all those dangerous materials at his disposal. Detectives are currently evaluating the information found in Micah’s journal. It is reported that at least 12 Dallas officers fired their weapons at the sniper, who police said had no criminal history.
Micah’s rampage was reportedly in response to the killings of Alton Sterling, 37, and Philando Castile, 32, two black men shot to death by police officers. “He was upset about Black Lives Matter,” Dallas police chief David Brown said during a July 8 news conference. “He [said he] wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”
“We saw no other option than to use our bomb robot and place a device…to detonate where the suspect was,” David said. He also dismissed earlier reports that claimed Micah shot himself. “The suspect is deceased as a result of detonating the bomb.”
We are completely disturbed by the recent findings and can hardly believe that another tragic shooting like this has taken place. It is terrifying to think that the gunman had such dangerous weapons and the equipment necessary to make bombs in his home. Our thoughts are with all the families and friends of those who died in the shooting.
