This is so heartbreaking, but it just might restore your faith in humanity. A mother-of-four who brought her sons to the Dallas protests on July 7 ended up using herself as a human shield when a sniper opened fire, saving the life of her 15-year-old son. See her sister tell the story, here!
Wow. Shetamia Taylor took a bullet while shielding her son during the tragic sniper attack against police in Dallas, TX, on July 7. When the gunfire began, she immediately dove to protect her 15-year-old, and ended up getting shot. Luckily her son was safe and sound. Her sister explained what happened, right here.
Sometimes the best in people comes out in the worst of times. Shetamia had brought her four sons to protest the deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling at the hands of police on July 7, but the peaceful event soon became a frantic nightmare.
A sniper opened fire on the crowd, leaving 12 people shot, 5 of whom died. All of them were police officers except for Shetamia, who was shot in the leg while trying to shield her 15-year-old son from the barrage of bullets. Her sister Theresa Williams explained to CBS News what happened.
“She immediately jumped on top of one of her boys, the 15 year old, she jumped on top to cover him on the ground as she pushed him in between two cars and the curb,” Theresa said. “Her other three boys scattered and ran in opposite directions, so she lost three of her boys, didn’t know where they were.”
She was “not even realizing she had been shot, at the time. All she could think about was her other three boys,” Theresa explains. Absolutely heartbreaking, no mother should ever have to worry about the safety of her children. We’re so glad all of them are okay!
