It’s finally here! Calvin Harris has dropped his possible revenge song about ex-Taylor Swift called ‘Ole’ and fans are going wild over the new jam. Click through to hear what the Twittersphere had to say.
It sure looks like Calvin Harris, 32, beat ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, 26, to the punch when it comes to writing about their breakup and fans can’t get enough of “Ole.” While he hasn’t revealed if in fact the song is about the “Shake It Off” singer, the lyrics sure seem like singer John Newman‘s vocals are about Calvin’s former love.
So far there have been conflicting reports on whether or not Calvin wrote the song about Taylor or if he’d already penned if while they were still a happy couple. If he did write the song prior to their breakup and Taylor immediately starting her blazing hot romance with Tom Hiddleston, 35, he was seeing into the future because the lyrics are so telling. It sounds as if the song is written from Tom’s standpoint and he blames Taylor for falling for a new guy while still with him.
The Caribbean flavored jam includes lines like, “You’ve hidden my name in your phone so you can call me to tell me you’ve been going through hell. Left him alone and you booked in a hotel,” and “I see online that you begun to be a good girl and take trips with your boyfriend. Being attentive, continue to pretend…” There’s been widespread speculation that Tay fell for Tom after sparks flew when they hung out at the May 2 Met Ball while she was still dating Calvin.
We have to note, though, that the song being about Taylor has not been confirmed. “People are just making assumptions to get attention for a song,” a source told Us Weekly. “There’s no way it could be about Tom.” In fact, a source close to Taylor even revealed that Calvin had written the song before Tom was even in the picture, according to TMZ.
Even if the song isn’t about Taylor, fans still can’t get enough of the slow dance number that’s a big departure from the usual more up tempo music we get when Calvin and John collaborate. Here’s a sampling of what the Twittersphere had to say:
