What’s next for Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder? This was the question when Kevin Durant left the OKC and signed with the Golden State Warriors. HollywoodLife.com can EXCLUSIVELY fill you in!
Russell Westbrook, 27, point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder is now a wild card in the eyes of many as his fate is being tossed around since Kevin Durant, 27, is now joining Stephen Curry, 28, and the Golden State Warriors. HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned what could be next for the sought after basketball star.
We were pretty fired up when learning about the basketball shake-ups going down — first Kevin, and then Dwyane Wade, 34, making the difficult decision to finally go with the Chicago Bulls; but now HollywoodLife.com has exclusively learned, that D. Wade’s old team, the Miami Heat, are looking to make a strategic move of their own on the heels of their separation.
“Pat Riley is looking to trade for Russell Westbrook and if that falls through the Heat will heavily pursue him in free agency next year,” a source EXCLUSIVELY tells us. The President of the Heat could potentially be sweating now that he lost Dwayne, so this could be a crucial move for the future of Miami.
Russell is a vital part to the OKC and a definite game-changer for their next season depending on if he stays or goes. The point guard is set to be a free agent in the summer of 2017, and his team could face a tough loss if he is snatched up by another team.
Oklahoma could renegotiate to extend his contract in order to lock him in, but the question is — does Russell even want to commit to the OKC now that Kevin is gone? If the team could open up a cap set, he could receive a nice chunk of change. We’re curious as to how Thunder general manager, Sam Presti, is handling all of this.
Like we already told you, the Miami Heat have their sights set on the top point guard, so time will tell. If that falls through, maybe Russell will head to the L.A. Lakers, since that is his hometown. We will just have to wait and see.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of the possibility of Russell heading to Miami? Do you think this is a good move for the Heat? We want to hear from you. Tell us what you think in the comments below!
