Totally disgusting. Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against co-anchor Steve Doocy and CEO Roger Ailes on July 6, but there was proof of sexism as far back as 2012. See Gretchen walk off the show after what she felt was a sexist comment from ‘Fox & Friends’ co-host Brian Kilmeade.
Poor Gretchen Carlson! The 50-year-old Fox anchor filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against CEO, Roger Ailes, 76, and co-host Steve Doocy, 59, on July 6, 2016. However, she has been suffering from this horrifying sexism for years! A video from 2012 shows her walking off the set of Fox & Friends after Brian Kilmeade, 52, made a disgusting quip. Check it out, right here.
The claims Gretchen has made against Roger and Steve are truly concerning, but you could see the sexism with your own eyes just by watching Fox & Friends. When Gretchen was hosting the show in 2012 (before she was allegedly fired for complaining about Steve’s harassment), she once walked off the set after another co-host, Brian, made some horrifying comments about women in general and then Gretchen herself.
While the Steve interviewed a Navy band about their addition of women in the 1980’s, Brian quipped, “Women are everywhere. We’re letting them play golf and tennis now. It’s out of control.” He was laughing, but Gretchen wasn’t. She immediately stood up. “You know what?” she said, while leaving, “you know what? You read the headlines, since men are so great. Go ahead.”
Brian didn’t care one bit. “Finally! Leaving an all-male crew,” he exclaimed. So disgusting. Gretchen stood firmly in her position. “In all your glory, go for it!” she said. While she walked away, Brian tried to get in the last word: “eh, she needed a shower.” How freakin’ rude?!
This is a good example of what Gretchen claims in her lawsuit against Steve and Roger, saying that co-hosts had been “mocking [Gretchen] during commercial breaks, shunning her off air, refusing to engage with her on air, belittling her contributions to the show, and generally attempting to put her in her place by refusing to accept and treat her as an intelligent and insightful journalist rather than a blond (sic) female prop.”
