OMG, this is so scary. Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson was found sleeping in his car as it sank into a retention pond on July 3, and afterward, he admitted to falling asleep while driving his vehicle. Whoa.
Denard Robinson, 25, got incredible lucky on July 3, as he survived a horrifying car crash that resulted in his car becoming submerged in a body of water. The scariest part of the whole thing, though, is that the accident happened because the football pro fell asleep at the wheel — yikes.
Police discovered Denard’s Chevy Impala sinking into a retention pond around 4:20 a.m. on July 3, with him asleep in the driver’s seat, and a female passenger, Marissa O. Staples, 29, also sleeping, next to him. Cops assisted the pair out of the car, although they were both originally reluctant to leave the vehicle. It was determined that the 25-year-old wasn’t under the influence at the time of the crash, so he was not charged with DUI. However, the exact nature of the tests done on Denard were not specified in the police report.
“I just wanted to let everyone know that I was involved in a single-car accident on Saturday night, and thankfully, everyone was safe and remained unharmed,” Denard wrote on Twitter. “I think God every single that for the opportunities he has presented me with and I’m grateful every morning to wake up healthy. I should not have been driving that late or when I was that tired, but again, I’m just glad that everyone was safe. God Bless.”
Officers did not see any skid marks by the scene to indicate that Denard had attempted to hit the brakes before careening into the pond. His car was deemed totaled after the accident.
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that Denard fell asleep at the wheel?!
