Talk about killing it! Jennifer Holliday, the 55-year-old Broadway star best known for her incredible vocals in ‘Dreamgirls’ just wow’d millions.
Jennifer Holliday put an all new spin on “America the Beautiful” as she was joined by the United States Air Force Band and the USAF Singing Sergeants during the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks 40th Anniversary in New York! The powerful singer absolutely nailed it and everyone was in complete awe.
You can listen to her performance here.
Jennifer took home the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical in 1982 for her role in Dreamgirls, where she sang her signature hit single, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” Fans of course went crazy on the Fourth for her performance, since it was so incredible.
“OMG #JenniferHolliday just slayed,” one Twitter user wrote. Another viewer took to Instagram to share a video, writing “And then THAT happened. Thank God for America and thank God for Jennifer Holliday.” We’d have to agree! Even younger viewers were shocked by her powerful vocals. “I didn’t know who
#JenniferHolliday is, didn’t realize she’s that old and had pop hits in the 80’s. Before my time. Underrated, it seems,” one wrote.
Kenny Chesney, Meghan Trainor, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pitbull, and DNCE also performed at the special hosted by Tamron Hall and Willie Geist. Did you love Jennifer’s performance, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
