It’s a very patriotic edition of ‘America’s Got Talent’! Fireworks were bursting on week 6, as contestants vied to make it through the last audition episode of the season! Who impressed the judges enough to make it through?
The theme for America’s Got Talent‘s July 5 episode was very apparent: America itself! The day after Independence Day was an amazing opportunity for AGT contestants to wear their best red, white and blue getups, and show off what they got! But there’s something else the whole show is celebrating: the very last audition episode of season 11! Believe us; things get crazy — enough that Nick Cannon even uses his golden buzzer! Wait, what?
First up, we have Cody the Twirler, a baton twirler who twists and turns — and juggles! — to Glenn Miller’s “In the Mood”. It’s quite a unique act, especially for a teenage boy, and it’s a great audition! At one point, he’s twirling and juggling three batons at once! Simon Cowell digs it, and tells him he’s a “born entertainer!” He thinks he’ll definitely fulfill his dream of being in the circus; he’s going through to the next round, at least!
Just Us is…just not good. It’s a group of four elderly peeps who are trying to get to Vegas, and somehow think the way to do that is with a jazzy version of “All About That Bass.” Nope! They’re X-ed before they can finish the first line! But here to make up for it is Ilan and Josh, a duo who starts up “All About That Bass,” too, and morphs into some crazy beatboxing. They get a “big huge fat yes” from the judges!
Daniel Joyner, 17, fancies himself the next Michael Bublé, and Simon agrees! Daniel croons a smooth version of Otis Redding‘s “Try A Little Tenderness” that starts out a little slow and shaky, but really picks up once he gets over the nerves of performing in front of such a large audience. He’s through!
Sila Sveta combined dance with stunning multimedia elements to make a memorable show. At times, it looks like they’re swimming, or flying, or trapped, and it’s breathtaking. They get a standing ovation from Mel B and Howie! They get four yeses!
Moya Angela absolutely crushes a Celine Dion classic, “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” that she says she’s been performing since she was just six years old! She can barely get through it before the entire theatre gives her a standing ovation — including all four judges! As Simon puts it, “that’s what we call a singer.” Obviously, she got four yeses!
RL Bell has the sexiest performance of the night, for sure. Somehow, this ripped dude with long hair, white jeans, a crucifix and a soulful voice is 50 years old! RL’s performance of “Me & Mrs. Jones” gets a standing ovation! It’s not exactly as big of a hit as it seems, though. Simon finds the whole thing “corny!” Oh well!
AGT saved the best audition for the very last! Dorothy Williams is 90, and she’s here to make this memorable! Dorothy was a dancer in her youth, and boy, is she one now. Not only that, but she’s a burlesque dancer. There’s red sequins, a feather boa…and nipple tassels. Yep! Don’t worry, they were attached to a tank top!
In fact, it was so amazing that Nick did something that’s never happened before. He ran out onstage, hopped down to the judges’ table, and pressed “his” golden buzzer! Doesn’t matter that he’s not a judge, he wants Dorothy on this show! Her face when the gold confetti flew was lovely.
