Now, that was an explosive finale! The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular was a star-spangled event full of music, amazing dancing and – of course – fireworks! Meghan Trainor, Pitbull and 5SOS just stole the show! Click for the full details here!
If there was one word to describe the 40th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks extravaganza, it would be: America. This display was the most explosive yet, thanks to performances by Meghan Trainor, 22, Pitbull, 35, and tons and tons of amazing fireworks that kept the patriotic crowd entertained!
The action was so exciting that the Big Apple almost exploded in patriotic joy before a single firework was lit. NBC’s Tameron Hall, 45, and Willie Geist, 41, made sure to get their American pride on during the July 4th broadcast.
The main star of the show – of course – was the fireworks display. More than 56,000 shells were fired across the East River, per Business Wire, and it featured the NYC Debut of “pyro writing.” The colorful version of skywriting spelled out “USA” in the night sky!
5 Seconds Of Summer may be Australian, but the hot lads from down under — Luke Hemmings, 19, Michael Clifford, 20, Calum Hood, 20, and Ashton Irwin, 21 — helped America celebrate its birthday in style. The Aussie foursome took a break from their summer national tour to rock out with a performance of “What I like About You.”
They weren’t the only rockers, as DNCE, who slayed the Billboard Music Awards, blew away the audience with “Cake By The Ocean.” While rock and roll was in full effect, Kenny Chesney, 48, made sure to bring some country to proceedings.
Now, it’s really isn’t a party until Pitbull shows up. The Cuban-American rapper brought some Miami flavor to the 4th of July with his performance of “Don’t Stop The Party” that cranked up the heat.
If there was anyone who could outshine the fireworks, it could have been Meghan Trainor who performed a flawless version of “Me Too.” Thankfully, she didn’t fall this time! Neither did Sara Bareilles, 36, as the Grammy and Tony Award nominated singer had everyone feeling some New York City Pride with “What The World Needs Now Is Love.”
