It’s the perfect precursor before the Olympics! Before the main event gets underway in Rio on August 5, the trials will separate the hopefuls from our chief competitors. In action on July 3 are our men’s and women’s 100m races, as well as our men’s and women’s 400m runners. But who’s going to make the team and join the likes of Michael Phelps, 31, and Klay Thompson, 26, in Brazil? Click down for the live stream!
It already promises to be one hell of a Olympics, with many of our stars hopeful of joining Michael, Ryan Lochte, Alex Morgan, Missy Franklin and Simone Biles in their quest for gold. But who will make it from these exciting track & field events?
The men’s 100m is always an exciting event, with the US boasting 3 key challengers to Usain Bolt’s crown. Whether or not anyone can beat him, who knows, but the likes of Tyson Gay, Justin Gatlin and Trayvon Bromell will all be testing their times in the trials, and hopefully making the team to take on the Jamaican sprint master.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 400m trials, Sanya Richards-Ross hopes to replicate her success in the 2012 Olympics by scooping gold, in what will surely be her final Olympics. But first of all, she’ll have to qualify in what will be a tough race. Will she do it?
