It’s party time! Katy Perry just scored a whopping 90 million followers on Twitter, and she overtaking some seriously stiff competition. And something tells us she’s grinning extra hard after dethroning one of her competitors!
OMG! Katy Perry, 31, just achieved the unthinkable — 90 million followers on Twitter, making her the most followed person on the social media site ever! But getting to the top, doesn’t come without knocking a couple of people down on your way up. The “Firework” singer just leapfrogged Justin Bieber, 22, and Taylor Swift, 26 to move into the top spot. You go Katy Kat! We’ve got the details here.
Look out people, Katy has become the new Queen of Twitter. “It’s party time,
@katyperry! With 90 million on the guest list, we’re gonna need a really big dance floor,” the official account for the social platform tweeted to Katy. And following the news Katy’s fans roared at the singer’s victory.
The “This Is How We Do” singer knocked JB down to the second seed with 83.3 million followers. Take that Beliebers! Taylor Swift follows close behind in with 69 million of her faithful fans. And Kim Kardashian, 35, is coming up the rear with 43.6 million followers.
While the competition is all in good fun, we’re thinking that Katy is getting a special kick out of moving past Tay online. In case you forgot, Katy and Tay haven’t been friends ever since Taylor blasted the “Teenage Dream” singer for “deceiving” her. And the feud continued for years to come as Katy took many opportunities to throw shade, including the time she took a slight jab at Taylor by calling her latest perfume Mad Love, which sounded a lot like a reference to Tay’s single “Bad Blood.”
But never mind the catfights, this is all about the numbers, and Katy’s numbers don’t lie. And honestly, we can totally see why she skyrocketed to the Twitter hall of fame. Katy loves to mix a series of updates about her music career with random and funny tweets. That is definitely the perfect combination. Justin and Taylor are no doubt amazing competitors, but it seems that they were no match for Katy.
HollywoodLifers, can you believe Katy made it to 90 million followers?
