After 12 years together, Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly Quaid, are getting a divorce. Kimberly filed the papers on June 28 and while this breakup is sad, it’s the third time that Kim and ‘The Parent Trap’ actor have tried to end their marriage!
Uh, third time’s the charm? After more than a decade together, Dennis Quaid, 62, and his wife, Kimberly Quaid, have pulled the plug on their marriage. Yet, after their two previous attempts to get a divorce, it seems like this time, the breakup is for real!
Kimberly filed the divorce petition on June 28 in Los Angeles, per TMZ. That day, Dennis was busy filming his Crackle show, The Art Of More, in Vancouver. Surprise divorce? Not so, as he knew that Kim’s decision was coming. “After careful consideration,” he and his wife said in a joint statement, “we have decided to end our 12 year marriage. The decision was made amicably and with mutual respect towards one another.”
“We will always remain great friend and devoted partners in raising our children,” the statement said. The Breaking Away actor and Kimberly have a pair of twins – 8-year old Thomas and Zoe – and sources tell TMZ that the couple has already sorted out the dirty details of the split, including a shared-custody agreement.
Dennis and Kimberly married in 2004. While the end of any relationship is sad, their statement makes it sound like this is the right thing to do. Plus, it’s not like Kim and Dennis’s breakup came out of the blue. Kimberly filed for divorce in March 2012, citing “discord or conflict personalities.” However, her lawyer pulled a Khloe Kardashian, 32, and pulled the divorce papers in April 2012. Yet, just like Khloe, Kim and Dennis re-filed for divorce in November 2012. The two reconciled seemed to make their relationship work — until now.
It seems that after two attempts, Dennis and Kimberly are actually going through with a divorce. Hopefully, this doesn’t turn out to be a prank like the viral video of Dennis’s meltdown in 2015. The Parent Trap actor completely blew up while on set of a movie, but that tantrum turned out to be a complete fake.
Are you sad that Dennis and Kimberly are finally divorcing, HollywoodLifers? Or do you think that this is the best for the kids?
