What an incredible person. Yasin didn’t think twice before putting himself on the line to save as many people as he could at Istanbul Ataturk. The terrorist attack at the 11th busiest airport claimed the lives of 41 people, and injured at least 239 others as of last count; the people he saved could have been part of that horrific body count.
The footage taken from CCTV cameras at the airport shows Yasmin confronting the suicide bomber as he made his way through the International departures terminal, shooting him once so he falls to the floor. Dozens of terrified passengers flee to safety before the terrorist is able to detonate his bomb.
The heart pounding footage shows Yasmin then slowly walking toward the downed terrorist, then sprinting away when he realizes he’s not dead. Seconds later, the terrorist detonates his bomb. Yasin is out of the shot, but he was seriously injured by the blast, according to Turkish site Haberler.com. He is reportedly in the hospital recovering after having his spleen removed, and is said to be in stable condition.
