They’ll be there for us….in reruns! That’s the only way we’ve ever going to get to see the ‘Friends’ cast because the show’s creator is letting us down hard when it comes to reunion hopes. Keep reading for Marta Kauffman’s blunt words about any future for new plans for the iconic sitcom.
Sadness! There’s no chance whatsoever we’re going to find out what the happy ever afters were like for our favorite characters on Friends because the show’s creator Marta Kaufman is saying in no uncertain terms that a reunion will sadly never, ever happen. Keep reading for the surprising reason she never wants to revisit the classic comedy.
Marta is promoting the upcoming season of her show Netflix Grace & Frankie but mentioned to Deadline that she still to this day gets bothered all the time about when a Friends reunion is going to happen. “They nag me all the time about it and my answer is that Friends was a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family, and in a weird way, this isn’t that different. Once you start having family of your own it changes, and the show was over.” Yeah, once Rachel and Ross had a baby, the show definitely started going in a less fun direction, but once Chandler and Monica adopted kids and moved out of the city, the series really did come to a well tied up conclusion.
“A show has a lifespan I believe, it has a lifespan like anything else, and there’s no reason to continue doing it just because people miss the characters. Watch the old ones, there is no way we could win that. And there’s no way it would be satisfying and it’ll never happen. We’ll never do it.” Ouch, no letting us down gently with that answer!
