London, England came to a standstill on June 25 as IBF World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua came up against Californian-born Dominic Breazeale in a highly-anticipated boxing contest at the O2 Arena. But there could only be one winner. Congratulations to Anthony who knocked Dominic out!
IBF World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua, 26, is being touted as one of the great British sports stars of his generation, and already has a belt to his name showcasing his excellence. But now that he’s the champ, he’s there to be taken down. On June 25 he came up against Californian-born Dominic Breazeale, 30, in what was touted as his hardest fight ever. But you can’t stop Anthony, who knocked his opponent out!
Anthony started off in usually confident fashion, as both fighters got to grips with each other in the ring, circling around one another. It was clear to see from the offset who the home crowd were cheering on and the chants for Anthony echoed around the arena.
Dominic appeared very easy to hit in the first round, was very open in his stance, which allowed Anthony to go for him. Anthony’s big bombs were getting straight through Dominic’s defense, he had no answer. He was struggling with Anthony’s speed and power.
Round 2 continued in similar vain, with Dominic casually coming out of the ring and Anthony dominating from the offset, picking his opponent off with sharp jabs. That jab was so strong! And it was nearly all over in round 2 for Dominic, who was caught in a flurry of punches from Anthony and just couldn’t deal with it.
In round 3, Dominic showed what real heart he has. Again, he was pinned up against the ropes and took a hell of a beating from a number of punches. Dominic’s right eye was closed due to bad bruising but still he wouldn’t go down and he showed what a amazing resistance he had to survive another round.
It was more of the same for round 4, Dominic taking a punishment again to the head and body. How he was still on his feet, no one knows. But Anthony was absolutely dominating the fight, every minute of every round. He was a beast in that ring.

In round 5 and 6, Anthony slowed down a bit. He was clearly getting frustrated by Dominic, who was somehow hanging in there. It was more of the same, but Dominic just wouldn’t drop to the canvas. At the end of the 6th, the two squared up to each other after the bell and uttered words to each other. It was getting personal in there!
However, the moment came in round 7 when Dominic would finally go down. Not once, but twice. It was another flurry of brutal blows that flawed him once. He got up from the 10-count, but another quick combo and Anthony was the winner!
Before the fight began, both fighters boasted flawless records. Anthony was 16 wins from 16 fights, knocking every single one of his opponents out. He won the belt in his last fight, knocking Charles Martin out with ease. Dominic’s record wasn’t bad either, winning 17 out of 17 fights, with 15 by means of knockout.
We were just pleased to see a good, clean fight and it was great to see two competitors at the top of their game going toe-to-toe in the ring. This was boxing of the highest order.
