SO heartbreaking. The body of 17 year-old Rebecca Kimberly has finally been found — with a life vest still on — in the Gulf of Mexico. The teen disappeared, along with her father and two brothers, in Florida waters on June 19. The rest of the Kimberly family is still missing!
As the search for the Kimberly family, who vanished off the coast of Florida earlier this week, continues, the body of Rebecca Kimberly was found on June 23. However, the U.S. Coast Guard has also confirmed that they discovered a SECOND pair of remains as well. The second set of remains were found just hours after Rebecca, who was 17 at the time of the incident, was found dead in the water — she was still wearing her life jacket. Get all the details below.
Rebecca was on a boat with her two brothers Roger, 13, Donny, 15, and their dad Ace, 45, when the the family of four disappeared. They were last seen on June 19 in a 29-foot sailboat off of Florida’s Gulf Coast. The family had reportedly been living on the boat in Sarasota for a year when they went missing.
After finding empty kayaks and other debris during their search on June 22, the U.S. Coast Guard discovered Rebecca floating in the water. SO awful! Captain Gregory Case, the St. Petersburg sector commander, said a Coast Guard search helicopter found the body at about 4.30 p.m. and turned it over to local authorities for positive identification.
Officials carried on with their search on June 23, which is when they noticed a white flare. That finding gave them hope that the three other family members could still be found alive. “We still have three persons out there that we are trying desperately to locate and we still have hope for that,” Gregory told reporters. He declined to give details about Rebecca’s body.

Ace had been raising his three children ever since their mother, Pauline Solsberry, divorced him nine years ago. Ever since, she has been estranged from their children, but she did keep in touch through a niece and photos. “They seemed to be happy,” Pauline said, according to WTSP News 10.
“Even though I don’t like the man, I hoped he would be taking care of his children and keep them safe no matter what happened,” she said. “I want my children,” she continued, adding that she hopes they can hear her message: “That I love them…hope they’re safe…to be safe. I don’t care if they ever want to see me just be safe….even if you don’t want to see me be safe and come home.”
Our thoughts go out to the Kimberly family during this extremely difficult time. HollywoodLifers, leave your condolences below.
