Kendall Jenner is the latest model to join the seriously gothic and edgy Marc Jacobs Fall 2016 campaign. We almost didn’t recognize her, she looks so different! Head designer, Marc, explains why he chose the supermodel for his latest campaign & it’s amazing!
Kendall Jenner, 20, is the latest model to join the ranks of other fabulous stars in the latest Fall 2016 Marc Jacobs campaign. She is featured in the ads alongside BFF, Cara Delevingne, 23, Marilyn Manson, 47, Courtney Love, 51, and more. We almost didn’t recognize Kendall, as she’s completely decked out in black Victorian costume, and has a giant crimped afro. Marc Jacobs, himself, explained why he specifically chose Kendall for the campaign, and it is so sweet. We love these new ads, do you?
Kendall looks so insanely gothic, and resembles Helena Bonham Carter, 50, perfectly. For the ad, Kendall’s completely covered in a long-sleeved, silk black Victorian inspired gown. The dress features a poufy, full tulle skirt, which she hiked up to show off her fabulous, knee-high black platform boots with silver studs and chains all over it.
Marc shared the picture of Kendall with such a heartfelt and sweet message as to why he chose her specifically for the campaign. “I will always remember the first time I met Kendall during castings for our Fall 2014 fashion show. Katie Grand invited her to come by the studio for a brief introduction before she was photographed for the model boards. At the time, I knew very little about Kendall…
As history now has it, her very first fashion show was for Marc Jacobs Fall 2014. Kendall has since been a part of every show along with being featured in our Spring ’15 ad campaign (also shot by David Sims). It goes without saying that Kendall has gone on to establish an incredible career for herself and every bit of it is a testament to her hard work, passion and desire.”
He didn’t just stop there, though. He continued on saying, “During castings for Fall ’16, due to the enormous height of the boots we designed, we had to make certain that each girl was able to walk (and walk safely). Kendall slid those boots on and walked around the studio as if she was in a pair of running shoes: statuesque, confident and just as enthusiastic and excited to be doing the show as if it was her first one. For me, it is the ability of a model to effortlessly transform into a look and character that makes her so appealing and inspiring.”
Marc ended his touching note on such a perfect note, stating, “Photographed by David Sims for our Fall ’16 ad as a Goth Goddess is the sweet, kind and ultimate professional, Kendall Jenner.” Is that not the sweetest not you’ve ever read?
We absolutely adore Kendall and everything she does, but it was so nice to see how much designers appreciate her work, do you agree?
