Elizabeth Banks won’t be directing ‘Pitch Perfect 3,’ and everyone is pretty upset about it. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with Anna Camp, the actress expressed how she feels about this major change to the film.
Anna Camp, 33, portrays the slightly uptight former Barden Bella in the Pitch Perfect franchise, and she’s had the pleasure of working alongside Elizabeth Banks, 42, for the past two films. Sadly, Elizabeth recently revealed she would not be directing the third film, and now we have Anna’s reaction to the news.
“I know she has a family and I know she has so much on her plate right now. She’s one of the busiest ladies in Hollywood,” Anna told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY when asked how she felt about Elizabeth dropping out as director for the third Pitch Perfect film. “I know she’s still going to be in the movie and a producer on the movie so she’ll be very much a presence. I think we’ll definitely miss her as a director.”
However, Anna revealed that she’s still unconfirmed for the third film, telling HollywoodLife.com: “I don’t even know if I’m in this movie!” Unfortunately, her fiance, Skylar Astin, is also unconfirmed for now. “Everything is so up in the air, especially with Liz leaving. They’re finding a new director, I’m sure, it’s still being written… I haven’t seen a script. It’s very, very much still up in the air,” Anna explained. Our fingers are crossed for both of you!
Even though she’s still unconfirmed for number three, Anna told us what she “hopes” to see her character, Aubrey, do in the third film. “When I read the script for two I was like oh man she’s still pretty uptight and screaming at all of the girls,” Anna told HollywoodLife.com with a laugh. “I would love it if she really, truly was relaxed and crazy and let her hair down and just was the most chill Aubrey you’ve ever seen and nobody even recognized her.” Um, same! Fingers crossed she and Skylar’s character, Jesse, make it back for the third!
We had the pleasure of talking to both Anna and Skylar when they judged an a cappella competition at the North by Northeast Festival in Toronto, Canada. “We are working with Courtyard by Marriott at the festival to kind of celebrate a cappella and we are judging an a cappella competition this evening before an outdoor screening of ‘Pitch Perfect.’ We’re also using Courtyard by Marriott to kick our feet back and relax in-between all of the crazy festival activities.”
