Patrick McDermott, who was dating Olivia Newton-John when he disappeared from a fishing boat in 2005, has reportedly been found alive and well. The cameraman is boat-hopping in Mexico and South America after faking his death, according to a new report. Get the latest here.
More than ten years after Patrick McDermott went missing while on a fishing trip, he has allegedly been located in Mexico. Olivia Newton-John’s on-off boyfriend is working on a luxury boat, hopping from ship to ship to avoid being recognized, a new report claims. Whoa!
Patrick is reportedly working for a wealthy family who has offered him protection because they know about his past, according to RadarOnline. The ship is currently believed to be in Mazlatan, the site’s source reveals.
The 58-year-old never returned home from a fishing trip in 2005, and was believed to have “most likely” drowned. However, an extensive Dateline investigation into his disappearance suggested that he faked his death, and investigators have alleged that he’s been hiding out in Mexico ever since.
A port officer in Nueveo Vallarta told Radar he saw Patrick walk by his office, and explained that he recognized him because “no one looks like him around here,” referring to the cameraman’s Korean heritage. However, there was no mention of Patrick McDermott or Pat Kim, his birth name, in the port officer’s database. If he is trying to live in hiding, though, it’s entirely possible he changed his name.
Another recent report claimed that Patrick was living in Sayulita, Mexico. “We’d all see him, he ate lunch in town every day,” a longtime resident said. However, when news of his whereabouts broke, she said, “He was never seen again.” Whoa!
HollywoodLifers, do you believe Patrick is alive? Do you think he’ll ever come back to the States?
