How sweet! For the first time since Rosie O’Donnell and her daughter, Chelsea’s, explosive fight back in August, the two finally seem to be making amends. And while their damaged relationship won’t heal overnight, stepping out in NYC together was certainly an important step for these two.
Are Rosie O’Donnell, 54, and her estranged daughter, Chelsea, 18, starting to put their differences behind them? It looks like it! After all, the pair were caught posing for a cute picture together on June 20 — for the first time in over a YEAR! And on top of that, they were both smiling! Even better, Rosie’s other daughter, Vivienne, was also there — talk about an epic family reunion!
Nearly a year after the 18-year-old cut off contact with her adoptive mother, the pair posed for photos with each other at Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Cabaret Cruise in NYC on June 20. But that’s not all, the duo even reportedly performed a duet of the song “Alexander Hamilton” from the Tony-award-winning Broadway play, an onlooker revealed to Us Weekly. “Rosie said a few words for an intro and was making the whole crowd laugh before giving a rundown of the other entertainment for the night,” the eyewitness revealed. “Rosie did not seem to be in the best of moods. Chelsea seemed happy and to be in a great mood.” Apparently the mother-daughter duo left shortly after their opening number.
But while Rosie may not have been in the BEST of spirits, there’s no doubt that this was a HUGE step for her and Chelsea. Hopefully time will eventually heal all! For those of you who need a refresher: last August Chelsea went missing from her family’s Nyack, New York, home. The comedian’s rep claimed that the teen was in need of medical attention because she didn’t have her prescription medication, which she used to treat her anxiety and depression.
Chelsea was finally found, two weeks later, in New Jersey with a convicted heroin dealer named Steven M. Sheerer, whom she reportedly met on Tinder. Soon after, when the teen turned 18, she left Rosie’s household to go live with her birth mother in Wisconsin. While Rosie claimed it was Chelsea’s choice to move out, Chelsea said that her mother actually kicked her out.
But either way, Chelsea totally slammed Rosie in an explosive interview with the Daily Mail where she alleged that her mother was constantly locked away in her arts and crafts room smoking weed. Yikes! Hopefully after this outing, the two can start burying the hatchet!
What do you think, HollywoodLifers — are you glad Rosie and Chelsea finally reunited?
