Simon Cowell has always been known for being a stickler while judging any kind of talent show. Naturally, he’s the only ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge yet to use his golden buzzer — but did that change in Week 4?
There have surprisingly been several acts to impress Simon Cowell on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent in his first season as a judge, but even a girl he claimed to be “the next Taylor Swift” couldn’t get him to use his magic button. With a few weeks left of auditions, Simon still has plenty of time to use his buzzer…so Week 4 auditioners really had to bring it to get Simon to budge!
The Week 4 competition started out on a thrilling (and dangerous) note, with a couple who did a knife throwing routine. After all, it’s not every day you see a couple who likes throwing knives at each other! They promised Simon that their routine would only get more dangerous as the competition goes on, so all four judges were curious to see what that meant. On to the next round for this pair!
Speaking of a pair, the next act involved fraternal twins Elias and Zion who are only 9 years old but play the piano like true pros! Not only were they hilarious, they were amazing!
And suddenly, the kids take over the show once again. From a group of siblings who performed an awesome hip hop dance to a 17-year-old who balanced on a ridiculously wobbly stack of cans, Week 4 is still making it seem like the youngsters are the ones to beat!
Man, what are parents feeding their kids these days?! A 14-year-old named Jayna came on to the stage and had the whole crowd on their feet with her rendition of “Summertime.” She even got Simon to proclaim that she was one of his favorite auditions! As Heidi Klum said, “She’s going to be here for a loooong time.”
When the kids aren’t owning the stage, it seems to be the couples who are killing it with the auditions too. Another couple used the husband’s fashion design talent and the wife’s quick feet to create an impressive costume-changing routine that blew everyone’s mind. You kind of just have to see it to believe it!
Just when we think that the kids were owning the show, all of the sudden an NFL player pulls out the tricks. Jon Dorenbos, the snapper for the Philadelphia Eagles, happens to do magic in the offseason — and apparently is a pro at two different things! He had Simon’s jaw on the floor with his amazing deck of cards trick, so you know he’s through to the next round!
And the award for craziest act of the night goes to a 52-year-old man named Vello, who is a combination between an acrobat and a contortionist — which is obviously a showstopper. He’s definitely one of those acts that will be fun to see what he does next!
After not seeing a ton of great singers tonight, a woman named Roni changed that. She was on her way to getting the boot with her first song, but Simon knew she had something more in her. Once she started on her second song, “Natural Woman,” something changed…and next thing you know, Roni blew everyone away!
A series of flops is followed up by possibly the grossest act Season 11 has seen yet: A man who hangs stuff from his nose, eyelids, and even nipples! Although all four judges could barely watch his routine, only Heidi didn’t want to see it again. Prepare yourselves to see things hanging from gross places again this season, AGT fans!
Who would’ve thought that one of the biggest shocks of the night would come from a stand-up comedian? And a 62-year-old female comic, no less! Julia Scotti provided some major shock factor with her hilariously vulgar routine, and I have a feeling we’re going to be getting a lot more risqué jokes from her!
A relatively fun night of acts turned awfully emotional when a 16-year-old girl named Calysta took the stage. A survivor of stage three ovarian cancer, she sang Rachel Platten‘s “Fight Song” and had everyone (well at least me) in tears — especially when Simon pressed his golden buzzer! That’s right, someone finally got Simon to hit the magic button. Now that we’ve had four epic finishes in the first four weeks of the competition, what more can come along?! Week 5 is going to have a lot to live up to!
