That’s how you do it! And how’s this for the perfect potential prelude for SummerSlam 2016! Roman Reigns, 31, who normally demonstrates such a wrestling masterclass lost to Seth Rollins, 30, in a thrilling match-up at WWE Money In The Bank on June 19 in Las Vegas, NV. But in true dramatic WWE fashion, the World Heavyweight Championship changed hands swiftly to Dean Ambrose, 30, in a thrilling turnaround when he cashed in his Money In The Bank Briefcase that he won earlier in the night. Roman started off his fight confidently as he often does, but Seth soon turned the tables on him. It wasn’t the best of fights early on, but it built to an ending that the fans ate up. The match had some high-energy action, plenty of near falls and plenty of drama to get the fans riled up. And then what we thought was the ending, Seth winning the title, much to Roman’s dismay soon became Seth’s dismay.
Moments after Seth won and became the new WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose cashed in his MITB briefcase which he won earlier in the night after an epic MITB ladder match against Chris Jericho, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Alberto Del Rio. When his music started, and he sprang into the ring to take out the newly crowned Seth Rollins with the case and his finisher, the always effective Dirty Deeds, the next thing to achieve was a quick pin which gave him the championship for his own. It can only be deemed as an insane turn of events!
But that isn’t all, earlier in the evening, another exciting match-up happened between the recently returning, John Cena and A.J. Styles. Now, we’ve always had a soft spot for John, but A.J. really took it to him in the early stages. After dealing out some back and forth punishment, and some help from The Club, he eventually defeated John who looked devastated with the outcome.
In another great battle, The New Day defeated Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, Enzo Amore and Big Cass and The Vaudevillains in a brutal fatal 4-way match with their Tag Team Championship on the line. Quite honestly a very fun match. And when it reached its crescendo, The New Day retained their beloved Tag Team Gold!
In the WWE women’s division, Charlotte showed us why she’s still one to reckon with, batting off Natalya and Becky Lynch, with the help of her partner Dana Brooke in a tough tag-team match-up. It looked like Natalya had the battle sewn up when she locked in a sharpshooter. However, that was broken up and after bumping into her teammate, Charlotte took advantage and got the win.
