France might’ve looked a little gun-shy against Albania, leaving it late to record a 2-0 win. And they also needed a late goal to see off Romania, so they’ve not been the best going forward. But defensively they’ve looked pretty solid, and on home soil with the fans behind them they will be difficult to beat.
The standout player for the French has been West Ham’s Dimitri Payet. He’s been the man most likely to conjure up something for his team, and already has two goals in the tournament in his first 2 games. His meteoric rise in the last year really has been a soccer fairytale.
Switzerland has their own gem of a player in Granit Xhaka in the midfield. A leader on the pitch, his passing and tough tackling have made him a hero for the Swiss. His fine displays recently earned him a $43 million transfer to Premier League giants Arsenal. The French will be wary of him.
It’s going to be a very tough game to call, with both sides maybe settling for a tie. Still, the Swiss could surprise us with recording a very famous victory. We’ll soon see!
