Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as ‘Supergirl’s Superman, but he’s not the only Man of Steel around. The sexy stud admits that he won’t be comparing himself to Henry Cavill’s take on Superman. He only wants to ‘carry on the tradition!’
Tyler Hoechlin, 28, has to make a big impression as Superman, but he’s ready for the challenge. The former Teen Wolf star has nabbed the role of Superman on Supergirl, and it doesn’t bother him whatsoever that Henry Cavill, 33, is also playing the Man of Steel on the big screen. Tyler revealed he’s not going to “compare and contrast” his Superman to the ones that came before him.
“I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already,” he told the Daily Mail. “Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part.”
While Henry is battling Lex Luthor and working on his bromance with Batman in the DC movie universe, Tyler’s looking forward to putting his own spin on Clark Kent, Superman’s alter ego.
“I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world,” he continued. “I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humor.”
After the news broke of Tyler’s casting, the swoonworthy stud tweeted, “Could not be more honored & humbled to be given the opportunity to play this incredible & beloved character. Can’t wait to get to work!”
And fans aren’t going to have to wait to see Tyler as Superman. The actor is set to appear in the very first episode of Supergirl’s second season, which moved from the CBS to The CW. Maybe he’ll get his very own spinoff! We would love that!
Tyler’s appearance as Superman on Supergirl will be the first time the iconic superhero has been featured on a TV series since Tom Welling’s Smallville ended in 2011. It’s about time the Man of Steel showed his face again on TV!
