Twitter is going OFF on Louis Smith for posting a close-up photo of a teenager’s butt on his Instagram page! But the British gymnast refuses to apologize for his actions…and even has the support of the girl in his photo. WHAT?!
Louis Smith, 27, doesn’t see anything wrong with sharing a shot of Carly Patterson’s butt on Instagram…even if she was only 16 when the picture was taken. Despite receiving major backlash on social media, Louis stands by his decision to upload the pic — read his response here.
“My sport has its moment,” Louis captioned the pic of Carly’s behind. Even though Carly’s 28 now, she was only 16 when the pic was taken at the 2004 Olympics. Twitter and Instagram quickly exploded with fans slamming Louis for objectifying a teenager, and the photo was reported and removed, but he has no regrets.
“The day I apology [sic] will be when Carly Patterson says she’s offended by my post!!” the 27-year-old replied to a fan. “If you don’t like my vulgar disgraceful morally bigoted racial sexist feministic facetious poor excuse for a role model behaviour than just unfollow me or even better block me lol if you appreciate that gymnastics gives you shape then I hope you enjoy the picture.”
Shockingly, though, Carly was on Louis’ side — and she even apologized to him! “Sorry @louissmith1989!” she tweeted. “Its totally ok guys, we’re friends.” But, still, being friends doesn’t exactly give Louis a right to parade Carly’s practically bare behind for his entire social media feed! Gymnasts don’t wear leotards like that so guys can stare at their butts, Louis.
Considering Louis said he’ll only say sorry if Carly wants him to, and she’s clearly not mad about the situation, we probably won’t be seeing an apology from this guy anytime soon. Ridiculous!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Louis’ post was inappropriate?
