This is SO touching! Country singer Rory Feek will honor his late wife, Joey Feek, in one of the sweetest, most thoughtful ways possible. Hitting theaters this fall, fans will get to experience ‘how Joey lived’ in an emotional documentary, created by the love of her life!
Completely heartbroken after losing his wife, Joey Feek, only three and a half months ago, Rory Feek, 51, has unveiled his latest project — a documentary starring Joey, which will play in theaters this September. Rory has deemed the heartfelt film his “gift to her,” and you can bet it’ll be a serious tearjerker!
Rory’s film, titled To Joey, With Love will hit theaters on Tuesday, September 20, but it’s just for one night only. “Most people know Joey and I for the five months we spent in Indiana – the beautiful, terrible days and weeks last fall and winter that we intimately shared through my blog posts,” Rory wrote on his blog This Life I Live. “They got to see Joey die. To see her face death bravely and pass to the other side with honor.”
Rory continued, “But I’d like for people to have the chance to see my wife live. To see the incredible woman that she was before the doctors said there was nothing more they could do … so they can better understand the amazing impact she’s had on me and everyone around her after she learned that the end was coming.”
The film will document the last two years of the couple’s life together, beginning a few weeks before their daughter, Indiana, 2, was born in February 2014, until this past spring when she sadly passed away on March 4.

Rory went on to say that although his late wife didn’t live to see her 41st birthday, To Joey, With Love will be his special “gift to her.” How sweet! After all, the film is being released just 11 days after what would have been her b-day. “My wife will get the chance to live again,” Rory gushed. “On a movie screen, her heart will start beating and her story will come to life once more and it will be my gift to her. And to our girls. And to our friends and family and all who loved her.”
Joey was only 40 years old when she died after struggling for nearly two-years with cervical cancer. June 15 would have been the couple’s 14th wedding anniversary. “I just want to lift my bride up… and continue to tell her beautiful story, while Indy and I live out the new one that God is now writing,” Rory Feek wrote.
“I am looking forward to spending the rest of this summer working on the film here at home (with Daniel and Aaron and Gabe and some other friends who are working on it with me)… and watching this story unfold. Again.” SO beautiful.
