It’s here! It’s quarterfinal time in the Copa America, and there won’t be a more interesting match-up than Colombia versus Peru at the MetLife Stadium on June 17. Colombia came into the tournament in good form and real belief that they can win the Copa. And with James Rodriguez, 24, rediscovering his goalscoring boots they have one of the men of the tournament capable of creating a magical winning moment. Click down for the live stream!
Colombia has already showed why they are one of the teams to beat, brushing aside hosts USA in a 2-0 opening win, then edging past Paraguay 2-1 in game 2. Because they’d qualified early from the group stage, it also meant that they could rest some of the players in the third group game without having to worry. So their players will be fresh!
And what Peru has to ask themselves is how do you stop James? With two goals in the competition already in 2 starts and one sub appearance, he will be a threat on set-pieces that’s for sure. and he’s just so darn cute too!
But Peru shouldn’t go into this with too much fear. After all, unlike Colombia who has lost one of their 3 games in this year’s Copa so far, Peru is yet to taste defeat. A recent 1-0 win against a Neymar–less Brazil will give them confidence they can go toe-to-toe against anyone.
Colombia was one of our tips for Copa America glory, and we stand by that. They will probably be too strong for Peru, but expect the Peruvians to put up a real good fight!
