There have been rumors swirling for quite some time that the cast of ‘Married… with Children’ was getting back together for a reunion — but what does Al Bundy say?
Married… With Children ended after 11 seasons in 1997, and with next year marking the 20 year mark, maybe it’ll be back? Well, don’t hold your breath. In a new interview, Ed O’Neill, who played papa bear, Al Bundy, just gave an update about the “legal problems” that have been holding back production.
“David Faustino pitched an idea to Sony about Bud moving back in the old house and being divorced and his ex-wife moves in, too, with his best friend and they’re struggling and Al and Peg are in Vegas – they won the lottery,” Ed explained during an interview with AOL Build on June 15. “And that was the idea, but I think they hit some legal problems. People who have to sign off on it wouldn’t, so I don’t think that’s going to happen!”
He also explained that it’d be tough for the main two stars — Peg and Al Bundy. “And Katey [Sagal] and I would only have been able to do one or two a year because we’re contracted – well, she was, now I certainly am. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. But you never know,” he said.
Last year, David revealed to E! that Sony had the rights to the spinoff. “They’re working out some legal issues that we hope they work out,” he said at the time. Well it looks like they haven’t worked out yet! But of course, Ed did say, “you never know,” which means we have some hope that it could still happen!
