Prince William is the first royal to be photographed for the gay publication ‘Attitude’ magazine, and he’s spoken out on the injustice of bullying against the LGBT community. Check out the interview right here.
Prince William, 33, has slammed homophobic bullying in a new interview for Attitude magazine, calling for young people to seek help and not put up with their bullies. Read on to see how His Royal Highness is taking a stand on this important issue!
For the issue, Prince Will met with members of the LGBT community to hear about their experiences with “homophobic, bi-phobic and transphobic bullying”, and it inspired him to come forth and publicly stand behind victims of bullying. “No one should be bullied for their sexuality,” he tells the magazine. “The young gay, lesbian and transgender individuals I met through Attitude are truly brave to speak out and to give hope to people who are going through terrible bullying right now.” In the wake of the Orlando tragedy, it’s as vital as ever for prominent figures like Will to give these issues recognition, and we’re glad he’s speaking out.
Will adds that while it’s hard for them to realize sometimes, victims of bullying are loved: “You should be proud of the person you are and you have nothing to be ashamed of,” he urges. “[Your] sense of strength and optimism should give us all encouragement to stand up to bullying wherever we see it.” Well said, Will!
