This is so incredibly heartbreaking. The two-year-old boy who was dragged into a lagoon by an alligator in Disney World on June 14 is believed to be dead after an intense search and rescue mission.
A two-year-old boy is believed to be dead after being attacked and dragged underwater by an alligator at a Disney resort on June 14. Police made the statement about the boy’s fate 15 hours after his family watched the horrifying attack take place. So sad.
Orange County Sheriff, Jerry Demings, confirmed Wednesday that officials believe the boy did not survive. “There’s no question they will lose a 2-year-old child,” he said in a press conference. “It has been 15 hours since. We are working on recovering the body of the child at this point. The ultimate goal is to bring closure to the family.”
The little boy was on vacation in Disney from Nebraska with his parents and four-year-old sister. He was wading along the edge of the Seven Seas Lagoon on June 14 when the alligator dragged him into the water, as his relatives looked on.
“The father actually went into the water to wrestle his son from the grips of the alligator,” police confirmed. Unfortunately, it was just too late. Immediately, police began a frantic search and rescue mission for the child, but when officials couldn’t find him after the first several hours, they admitted it was “not likely” they would “recover a live body.”

“Everyone at the Walt Disney Resort is devastated by this tragic accident,” Walt Disney World Resort’s Vice President said in a statement after the incident. “Our thoughts are with the family. We are helping the family and doing everything we can to assist law enforcement.”
There were “clearly visible” signs that read “NO SWIMMING” around the lagoon, with alligators being one of the main fears of danger in any body of water in Florida. Our hearts are with this poor boy’s family during this tragic time.
