Angel Colon, a survivor of the horrific attack on the Orlando nightclub that left 49 dead, spoke out about the ruthless killer Omar Mateen, calling him ‘heartless.’ Watch part of his heartbreaking interview right here.
A survivor of the June 12 mass murder at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub named Angel Colon recounted the horrific night in a press conference at Orlando Regional Medical Center, just two days after the shooting, declaring that Omar Mateen‘s killing spree was “heartless” and “ruthless.” Even more gut-wrenching, Angel insisted that Omar seemed to enjoy taking 49 innocent lives that night.

As reports suggested, the night of the carnage wasn’t Omar’s first time at Pulse. Because of this, Angel was asked if he had seen Omar at the club on prior visits. “I had not seen him before,” Angel told reporters. “It scares me, knowing someone like this was constantly in that club.”
After describing the terrifying timeline of Omar’s attack (in which Angel was shot three times), Angel completely ripped on the mass murderer. “This person had to be heartless. Heartless, ruthless, I don’t know how you could do something like this,” Angel continued. “Just seeing all these bodies everywhere and this person is just enjoying doing this…there’s no way, I don’t know how.”

During his recount of the tragic night, Angel explained that even after Omar had shot the innocent clubgoers, he was going around shooting them again to ensure that they were dead. As Angel lied on the floor after being shot and subsequently getting trampled, Omar returned to shoot him again, but fortunately missed his head. Although he still can’t walk as a result, Angel is just grateful he’s alive after witnessing so many others tragically lose their lives around him.
As of Monday afternoon, 29 of the injured victims (including Angel) were at ORMC, five of whom are still in grave condition, according to the Orlando Sentinel. All 49 victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting have been identified. Our hearts go out to all of the families affected by this tragedy.
